About

One in four adults experiences a mental health disorder in a given year.

Fewer than one-third of adults and one-half of children with a mental health condition receive mental health services in a given year. Though the numbers are growing at a rapid pace, programs and services for individuals and families affected by mental illness are struggling to keep up, and the stigma surrounding mental health is tremendous.

Utilizing art as a tool to open and navigate the discussions surrounding mental illness has proven to be a successful life-changing experience for those involved. That is why we are so excited to introduce the With Love Campaign; a community initiative which includes

  • A collaborative art project,
  • School presentations and visits,
  • Artist talks,
  • And outreach into our local communities,

— Culminating in a gala and silent art auction event

All to help to end the silence, erase the stigma surrounding mental illness, and raise funds for Coastal NAMI programs.

Core Focus Programs

The With Love Campaign is a fundraising effort for the following Coastal NAMI programs:

NAMI Connections Recovery Support Group

NAMI Family Support Group

NAMI Ending the Silence

The Alexa Project

1,000 Flowers Collaborative Art Project

One of the most powerful things we can do for each other is to have conversations and make personal connections about mental health. This community art project will involve acts of creating a piece of art that will become part of a unified whole. Students of all ages/grades and community members will create origami flowers. Within each flower created, a message will be written on the petals by the creator, that communicates their thoughts on ending the silence. All flowers will be collected within acrylic heart sculptures. The heart sculptures will be displayed at the With Love Gala at the Chrysler Museum of Art and travel as a collective art installation.

With Love Gala & Silent Art Auction

The With Love Gala will be our primary fundraising initiative. This formal event will be hosted at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk on Thursday, Feb. 27th, 2025 from 6:30pm-10:30pm. We are planning an elegant memorable evening to include a silent art auction, music, dinner, and dance — all with the goal to raise money to support NAMI Coastal community service initiatives.
