1,000 Flowers Community Art Project

At the heart of the With Love Campaign is our mission to close the gap in mental health support by harnessing the power of art.

This community art project will involve individual acts of creating — and individual pieces of art that will become part of a unified whole.

Students of all ages and community members will create origami flowers from multi-colored papers.  Within the petals, each of these paper flowers will contain a message written by the creator that communicates their thoughts on ending the silence surrounding mental illness, its consequences, and recovery.

All flowers will be collected and placed together within acrylic, standalone heart vessels. These collaborative sculptures will be brought together and displayed as an installation at the Chrysler Museum of Art during the With Love Gala.

Resources & Guides

This art project not only reflects the theme of With Love, but also includes the flowers and floral themes that are reoccurring symbols across collaborations between the Vibe District /NAMI /StoneWear Ceramics.

It also creates a simple way for the entire community to participate — with accessible materials, an attainable technical component for any age, and a written piece that will highlight the artist’s voice.
